A FASTING EXPERIMENT.

A -rermarkablo fasting feat is being carried out at East Dean, Susses, close to Chichester, by a young Molesey man— Mr Eskholme Wade — who is living im a ten* on the top of a hill just outside the village. Ever since August Bank Holiday he has, according to his own story, lived on nothing but fresh air and fresh waiter. He runs and walks 30 miles a day, never misses a bathe dn tho sea near Bognor ; when he is not running or walking ho is cycling, and when he is not cycling he is sleeping, reading, or typewriting in a little ..green canvas tent which he has pitched under the shade of a giant beech. He is not fasting for love or money, or as an act of penance or for a misplaced love of 'sport ,_but simply as an experiment in dietetics to prove that food rather than being a source of energy is only necessary to replace wear* and tear of the tissues of the body. He told a "Daily News" representative that wheal he had completed his present fast about the middle of October ho will ''build up" his. physique •again in -the foUowing fortnight on a fruit dieti .and then •? attempt, to break tW walking'irecord of- 60 miles a day from* John- O'Groats'to Land's End-, allowing nothing to pass his lips but water. **.■.'• ■■-.'- - When he reaches Land's End he will turn back and complete the thousand miles. If he succeeds he proposes to try a six months' fast next year-, tpamping the country on an eniotv stomach. He is six feet high, 'a*id is m perfeot &ealth» *
