Miss Mary Samson, St. Clair, Dunedin, is staying in Christehurch at present. Miss G. P. Faris, Cambridge Terrace, returned from lnvereargill yesterday. Mrs C. Skeviugtou (Waiktiku) is in town, and is staying at the Clarendon. Mrs R. J. Seddon lias returned to Wellington from her trip to the West (cast. Miss Isobel Cunningham, who Itfis been spending some time in Christchurch, is now back at her home in Timaru. Mr ami Mrs I). W. Costello, of New York, left to-day for tlie south, after spendiug some little time iu Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Bernard Tripp were in London when the last mail left, having just returned from Geneva, where they attended the Red Cross Conference. • Mr and Mrs F. W. Biekuell, who have been visiting friends in various parts of Canterbury during the past few weeks, left to-day on their return to lnvereargill.

Mrs R. T. Sadd and the Misses Sadd (St. Clair, Dunedin) are on a visit to Christchurch. Other southern visitors to this citv at present are Misses Mackenzie" (Dunedin) and Grant (Ravensbourne). The engagement is announced of Miss Flora Holland, voungest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Holland, Christchurch, to Mr Roy F. Drayton. Kopara, West Coast, second' son of Mr and Mrs A. F. Drayton, Knowles Street, Christchurch. The little girl, Ruth Calson, again met the Prince of Wales yesterday on H.M.S. Renown, taking' with her a bouipiet of chrysanthemums to decorate his room. The Prince heartily thanked her, and expressed best wishes for her future. Celia Knitted Jumpers.
