The Executive Committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals met last evening, Mr .1. O. Jameson (chairman) presiding. The inspector reported having visited 1-1 districts during the month and also various horse, poultry, and stock sales, and race meetings. Four eases of cruelly had been dealt with in the Court, and convictions recorded. The last consignment of 1200 sheep from the Chatham Islands had been inspected, and only one death had occurred amongst the whole consignment. An inspection bad been made of a local carrying company's stable, two of the horses being found to lie suffering from sores, six others being in a low condition, and three were ordered to be put oil' work. Six stray dogs bad been destroyed, and four more dogs and two cats bad been destroyed in the Animals' Home. The Home showed a credit balance of £5 l(i/0 for ilie month. One person was cautioned for using an overhead clfeck rein in the city streets, and a racehorse owner for using a very tight overhead check rein at the Addington trotting meeting. The report was adopted.
