Mr and Mrs W. Menzics (Menzies' Bay) are in town. Mrs A. C. Pride (Wanganui) is on a visit to Christcliureh. Mr and Mrs J. F. Martin (Wellington) are staying at Warner's. Mr and Mrs Melville (Greymouth) are on a visit to Christchurch. The Misses Hodges, of Loburn, have returned from a visit to friends in the North Island. Mrs James Clelland and Mrs T. Scott (Timaru) came up to town last evening for a short stay. Colonel and Mrs T. Mill (Trentham) camo up to Christchurch last evening, after a week in Timaru. Mrs C. Tattcrsall, Miss Tattersall and Miss Waller (Napier) are amongst the guests at the Clarendon. Mrs Banks, who has been staying with relatives in Christchurch, in order to meet the Arawa on her arrival in Lyttelton, returned .home this week, accompanied by her son Harold, who returned by that troopship. A wedding of considerable interest to ' rrtany residents of Christchurch, where the principals are well known, will take jl place in Blenheim to-morrow. The bride-groom-elect is Mr E. L. Good, of Bangiora, and the bride-elect Miss Eila Eutherford, daughter of Mr E. S. Rutherford, of Kekerangn. Mrs Good and the Misses Good left yesterday, to be present at the wedding. To-day an excellently-stocked stall is being conducted in the Square, by the Christchurch Ladies' Guild, in aid of the Seamen's Institute. The various substalls are conducted as follows: —Cakes, Mesdames Thomson, Blunt and Hamilton; flowers, Mrs Carey Hill and Mrs Webb; sweets, Miss Tessa Beading; . fancy, Mrs Blakewell; produce,.Mrs Trcleaven and Miss Dearsley; books, Mrs Blackburn; cashier, Miss Fryer. The stall is receiving good patronage, and.should net a good sum for this very worthy object. Invitations have been issued for the Canterbury University College Diploma Ball, to be hold in the Art Gallery on June 17. The Ball Committee comprises ; the following:—Misses G. Alley, I. Taylor, D. Thompson, E. Willcox, Misses A. 0. Ponder, J. K. Moloney, F. W. Gurnsey, B. P. Penlington, S. P. McCallum, and W. E. Lascelles. The ; chaperons will bo the Mayoress - (Mrs H. T. J. Thacker) and Mrs H. D. Acland, Mrs T. G. E. Blunt, Mrs T. W. and Mrs C. F. Salmond. This is • the first occasion on which Christclmrch ■'■:- will dance to the music of a "jazz band." Mr Edward Tlieomin, son of Mr D. E. Theomin, chairman of directors of The Bristol Piano Company, was married in London yesterday, and the event was duly celebrated by the local branch .of the firm. The staff of Tho Bristol Piano Company gathered together, at the invitation' of Mr D. E. Theomin, and, under tho chairman of the local manager, Mr R. A. Home, spent a : happy half-hour in toasting Mr Edward '.Theoinin and his bride. The bridegroom was.on active service for over two years with tho New Zealand forces, and while , son leave he met the lady who is now his wife. Mr Home made a speech in Vhappy vein, and said that he was sure i. he was voicing the feelings of the staff when he wished all prosperity to the young couple.
