THE GENERAL ELECTIONS. METHODIST RESOLUTIONS ON BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS. The Taraiiaki-Wangaiiui Methodist' Synod passed the following resolution: —'' The Synod expresses its satisfaction at the continued growth and activity of the Bible-in-State-Schools League, now numbering over 150,000 members, and the able manner in which Canon Garland and his coadjutors placed the evidence before the Parliamentary Committee. The Synod regrets that that committee, by its recommendations, carried by the narrowest majority, gave a lead to Parliament hieli - resulted in • the question being withheld from the people through tfye Refereiiduiii ndt not being grantedi : and the question thus being hurled'into the areria of politics at the election!; We realise that some advance has been made in receiving some recognition by Parliament ; of th<3 : necessity of Biblef teaching, 'and urge our ministers to take advantage of the facilities offered under' the : Nelson system until the more adequate provision advocated by the League b6 ' secured. « - f' We also pledge ourselves to strenuous action, With a view to obtaining the Referendum from the next Parliament.;''!
