Mr J. A. Patorson, of Dunedin, is a guest at the United Service Hotel. T)r Hardwick Smith arrived from Wellington on Saturday morning. Messrs E. E. Clark, ,1. Stevenson, E. Ancombe, .1. Anstay, W. Barbey, and I>. Mac.farlaiie are staving' at the .Clarendon Hotel. Visitors to Christc.hure.h staying at Warner's Hotel include Messrs G. F. Heald (Wellington), and J). Friedlander, Ashlmrton. Messrs W. Bennett and W. Henderson, of Wellington, arrived in Ohristehureh yesterday. They are staying- »t (Joker's Hotel. News has been received in Wellington of the death of Mr E. O. F. vou "Reden, the first chairman of the New Zealand Counties' Association, and for many years a member of local bodies in the Wairarapa. Mr von Keden was in his native State, Hanover, at the outbreak of the war. At the coinmenc.oment of hostilities he left for Sweden, and it was in that country that lie died. He leaves a widow who is the daughter of Mr J as. Leech, of Motueka.
