Christ a Prohibitionist I Prohibition Right in Principle Prohibition is as old as the hills. Men have applied it to their communities in all history. FIRST PROHIBITION—BLOOD REVENGE. It was an invariable custom. No one dreamed of challenging it. "An eye for an eye,'' men said. Christ was a Prohibitionist. The State stepped in and took revenge out of private hands. Was that coercion or progress? SECOND PROHICITION—-POLY-GAMY. An old and deeply-rooted custom. Very pleasurable to the Lord of the Harem. Christ was a Prohibitionist. White men foupd outo that it was a ra-cial mistake. You are under Prohibition. Is .that coercion or progress? THIRD PROHIBITION—SLAVERY. It prevailed till the 19tli eentury. It was prohibited to Englishmen in 1833. Interested parties to raise Cain. But prohibitory laws were passed. They succeeded. Prohibition spelt progress. THE TIME FOR THE PROHIBITION OF ALCOHOL HAS COME. Alcohol has been found plishes nothing. Soldiers and Sailors and Scientists are against it. The Revelations of ""Biology, and of Physiology and of Sociology are against it. • ;; It has been found out. It is a ciostly humbug. It 5 costs us unutterably in cash, in power, and in shame. A QUARTER OF A MILLION of the free Electors of New ZealaAd haw demanded its prohibition. A plurality of 54,000 at last poll claimed it. It is overdue. Its success in -these islands is certain. ; NEW ZEALAND WAS PROHIBITIONONCE. The Maoris—the finest primitive race —had no intoxicant. NEW ZEALAND WILL BE PROHIBITION AGAIN. The hour has struck. You strike.
