The Chief Government Electrical Engineer, Mr E. Parry, gave an address before the Philosophical Institute at Canterbury College last night, on "The Mechanical and Electrical Charactcris-' tics of the Lake Coleridge Transmission Wire."- The lecture was profusely illustrated with diagrams and charts thrown on the screen, and the lecturer described the principal difficulties to be overcome in constructing transmission lines over long distances, making particular reference to the methods of solving problems presented by the Lake Coleridge line.
