RECOMMENDATIONS ADOPTED. Press Association. DUNEDIN, November 24. The Presbyterian Assembly to-day adopted the general clause of the Theological Committee's Report. The Assembly also adopted the following • recommendations: — '' That the following be added to student regulations: ' Every student shall I remain under the jurisdiction of the presbytery which granted him his cer-j tificates as a student for the ministry unless he is transferred by that presbytery to another presbytery." '' That the committee be authorised to make such arrangements as funds may warrant for the assistance of tutors during the coming year.'' '' That ministers be asked to urge the claims of the ministry as a calling upon the young men of their congregations." "That the scholarship fund be commended to the liberality of the congregation and individuals." The Assembly in the afternoon received reports on the lona, Columba, St. Margaret's, and Auckland Girls' Colleges. Each represented satisfactory conditions, good work being done. In the evening, reports. on the Maori missionary field were taken. These disclosed that a rapid rate of progress was' being made, and more workers were required. The tire insurance report showed that insurances iu force on August 18 amounted to £212,857, distributed over 215 churches. The ISfew Century Futfd report showed grants to the following:— Kelmarne £IOO, Matamata £225, Otorolianga £l5O, Seatoun £l5O, and Te Kuiti £9O 15/3, making a total of £715 15/3.

TO-DAY'S BUSINESS. DUNEDIN, November 25. At the Presbyterian Assembly ,this morning the report of the Church Property Committee was presented. Fortyeight transfers of properties were-exe-cuted; 27 titles were received for Safe keeping; £21,330 was invested in twenty securities; £7250 was receded in re payment of seven investments; fourteen congregations borrowed on mortgage £10,130; five congregations received £2776 for the sale of old manses and sites.. .The trustees reported: receipts of donations of £SOO from Walter Macfarlane, £123 from an anonymous friend, and £SOO from a sympathiser for missions. Legacies, were received from the executors of the late G. Bullen, of Kaikoura, of £SOO for the Knox College Building Fund; from the executors of the late Win. Fraser, of Fairlie, £4097 for the-Orphanage; from the executors of the late Mr Merrick, of Cambridge, £l5O for the -foreign, missions, and £l5O .• for Maori in the Auckland district. THE FRASER BEQUEST. One of the principal questions arising out of the report of the Church Property Committee - was -as to the Fraser bequest of £4OOO. The Auckland Orphanage was, from the beginning, a separate institution, and was not now within the terms of the bequest. A motion was moved to alter this to allow Auckland to participate. It was ultimately resolved that the trustees be empowered to take over the Leslie Orphanage on conditions to be arranged to the satisfaction of the Presbytery and the ;ttfttste.ea. s - v
