An infrequent visitor to Lyttelton, t-lie Regulus, is expected from Greymouth on Friday with a cargo of coal, and will sail the following day for Wellington. After having been at Lyttelton for nearly three months, the Italian ship Combermere left her berthage at Gladstone pier yesterday and was anchored in the stream. She .will proceed next to Puget Sound- to load timber. The steamer Hackness has been fixed to load at New York on behalf of the C. and D. Line for New Zealand and Australian ports. The Hackness is a new vessel, owned by Messrs Pyman Bros., and' is purely of the cargo class, being replete with every innovation conducive to the rapid handling of freight. Captain Hudson, well known in the Australian trade, having been associated with the Port Line, now merged into the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, Ltd., died whilst the steamer Port Hunter was en route to Melbourne from Sydney recently.
