CONSISTENCY, IS THY NAME SNOWDEN?
To the Editor of THE StIN. Sir, —At the "civic" reception give* ■on Saturday to Mr Philip Snowden, at which, by the way, Rev. L. M. Isitt was the only speaker (significant fact), Mrs Snowden charged the newspapers with '' being tainted with commercialism, " because her "hubby" was not allowed free ispace to reply to advertisements paid for by other people. Is this not the pot calling the kettle black? Are not Mr and Mrs Snowden tainted with commercialism, when Mr Snowden takes £4OO per annum from the British taxpayer as a legislator, and instead of staying 'at home to earn his wages, conies out to New Zealand to lecture us sober New Zealandem on the evils of drink, and receives from the New Zealand Alliance some hundreds of pounds and a first-class return ticket for himself and his better half ? This is a question which Mi* Snowden might answer before lie shakos the dust of Canterbury from off his feet, and returns to Blackpool to lecture his constituents on the evils of the present capitalistic systems—l am, BtC. 4 NEW ZEALANDEK.
