The secretary of the Canterbury Automobile Association lias received the following reports in connection with roads, etc., in the country districts: —From Mount Somers: There is fresh shingle commencing near the Bushside School and running about 1$ miles towards Staveley on the main road. Anyone coming through to Mt. Somers can avoid most of the shingle by taking the Springbum Road from Bushside School, which is not any further, and 'the road is in fairly good order. From Annat: The roads in the Malvern and Tarawera County districts at present are, most of them, in fair order; the worst feature is the number of loose stones caused through the continual dry weather, and sheep traffic combined. If motorists thought of taking a run to Lake Lyndon for fishing, it is advisable for them to take Ilalkott Road, which brings them on to the West Coast Road at Courtney. The Ilalkett Road is the one to the right before reaching West Melton. — There is a good ford in Kowai River, which is to be crossed after leaving Springfield. The road is in good order.
