LINWOOD SCHOOL.

2XI ANT SECTION OPENED

At North Linwopd this afternoon tLe official opening took place of the new infant school, of the North Linwood State school, a brick three-roomed structure, recently completed. The function was performed by Mr Geo. Rennie, chairman of the Education Board.

Mr H. W. Denton, the chairman of the School Committee, stated that the school vas .Jwd in 1908 with 180 scholars. While the improvements had gone on at the Linwood School the board had not forgotten other parts of the district. The Department had at present under consideration an application (and he believed it would be granted) for more land t Elmwood to enlarge tbe school there. There was also under consideration an application for mother acre of land at Phillipstown. Russell, in the course of a brief address, made a plea for the greatest attention to primary education, and praised the work that had been done at Linwood School.
