THE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.
COMPLAINTS RE POOD.
At his meeting at Linwood last evening Mr G. W. Russell, M.P., said that he lhad received private letters in which he. placed every reliance, to the effect that the members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force now on the way to the front were complaining loudly with regard' to the quality and the quantity of the food which was being Supplied to them. A Voice: They are not men! Mr Russell: That's all right, my friend; but you 're not there. He was not criticising the Government —he wished that to be made quite clear —but he did hope that the Government would have the complaints inquired into. He was not sure of the figures, but he believed that the contractors who were supplying the food were doing so at the rate of 2/- per head per day. If this were the case, a wireless message should be 'Sent at once to General Godley to. see that the young men sent by the Dominion to do battle for the Empire were properly and adequately fed.
