AN AEROPLANE VISIT.
FRENCHMAN- IN GERMAN MACHINE. " \

Amiens was terror-stricken at the arrival of a Taube aeroplane, which was greeted with a; shower ofriflo -bullets. The- inhabitants took: refuge, in cellars, antk, French infantry blazed away in impotent fury. ' . The Taube suddenly commenced s graceful volplane, and the f mystified soldiers lowered their rifles ami; approached, for the purpose of arresting the German.' Instead of a German, Garros, the well-known aviator, stepped out. He explained that he had been reconnoitring, and his engine failed* Chased by a Taube* machine, Garros descended and pretended to be a victim of a disaster. When the Taube appeared, he rose up and shot the pilot with his revolver. Then he gave his own machine into the- charge of a friendly fanner, and mounted the Taube machine and relumed to the French lines. • As a precaution against .spying, Germans have forbidden Belgians entering churches in Flanders. A peal of
bells might be a secret signal, or prevent the troops hearing the approach of hostile aircraft.
