NAVY LEAGUE.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Navy League Committee was held last evening, Colonel Hobday occupying the chair in the absence of the president, Mr J. J. Dougall. There were also present Mesdames A. Boyle, Bradney Williams, Miss Mcßeth, Messrs Bradney Williams, J. O. Jameson, W. Walton, Professor Blunt, and the secretary (Mr C. J. Treleaven). Several apologies for absence were received. A letter was received from Dr Levinge, tendering ' his resignation.—The secretary read a reply which he had sent to Dr Levinge, and pending a reply thereto the first letter was received.

The secretary reported what had been clone by the league by way of fittingly observing Trafalgar Day, details of which have already been published.—r A vote of "thanks was passed to the secretary and the ladies of the committee for making arrangements for the picture entertainments and for the decorations in Victoria Square respectively. i The head master of the Boys'-Pre-paratory School wrote stating that he j was doing all in his power to induce ! the boys in his school to join the league,

and that a fair number were going to do so. He asked that each boy on joining be given a booklet with the flags in it, as they valued these and their certificates very much.—This was agreed to, it being deeided to order 500 copies ofithe "ABC of the Union Jack" for distribution to juvenile members.

The financial statement showed a credit at the bank to date (general account) of £6l 10/7, less an amqunt of £25 authorised to be remitted to the Navy League, London, which left an actual credit to date of £36 10/7.'An account of ;£9 1373 %as presented and passed for payment. The secretary reported that a message had been sent to the Admiral Commanding the North" Sea Fleet conveying Trafalgar Day greetings.—A reply in acknowledgment was read to the meeting. On the motion of Mr W. Walton, seconded by Professor, Blunt, it was decided to communicate with, the Australian, Commonwealth Government, congratulating it on the good work accomplished by the Australian Navy during the progress of the war.
