ANOTHER BEFEAT FOR REBELS IN SOUTH AFRICA
The latest eables indicate that the most recent efforts of the enemy have not been productive of much in the way of advantage for them. Heavy German attacks in the vicinity of Ypres have been repeatedly repulsed.
A French torpedo boat reports that she has rammed and sunk a German submarine qff the Belgian coast.
Operating against the Russians, the Germans are said to have commenced an offensive movement from Thorn, but in East Prussia the victorious Russians continue their onward march, capturing guns at fioldau, and occupying the important position of Tarnow. a
In South Africa the rebels have again been defeated, losing, a numr ber of prisoners and horses. /
Victory has rested with the Russians in their campaign against the Turks, and a late cable this afternpon announces the complete victory of a British cruiser in an attack on Turkish forts opposite Perim, at the entrance to the Red Sea. A further list of the casualties on board H.M.A.S. Sydney is included in the messages from Australia.
