Mr William A. Morgan, of Ashburton, is a guest at Coker's Hotel. Messrs W. Loach (Waimate), M. O. Bailey (Sefton) ; and Hi Loames (Timani) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. \ Visitors to Christehurch staying at Warner's Hotel include Messrs O. K. Steele (Wellington) and A. M, R. Tart (Sydney). The death is announced of Captain Gerald Wynter Blathwayt, of the Royal Field Artillery. He was killed in action in France. Lieut.-Colonel J. E. Hume, R.N.Z.A., Instructor of Artillery and Engineers, has been appointed temporary officer in command of .the Auckland Military District. Mr James Andrews, who has been acting for some months as chief clerk of the fields and experimental farms division of the Department of Agriculture, has been transferred, on promotion, from Wellington to Christehurch, as district agent for the Department. Prior to his departure, the staff of the Wellington division made a presentation to Mr Andrews, as a token of esteem and appreciation of their happy relations with him during his connection with the division..
