THE ELECTIONS.

A BAD GUESSER. DATE OF ISSUE OF WRITS NOT YET FIXED. The "Lytteltoii Times" this morning printed the following statement: "It is believed that the electoral rolls will be closed on Saturday evening.'' The Sun accordingly wired to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, for an authoritative statement on the subject. Mr. JJi slier promptly replied as follows:*—

'' The only authoritative statement I can make at present is that the 'Times' is merely guessing, and has guessed badly as usual. Date not yet fixed.'' and notes. 'Mr F. B. Hughes, Government candidate for the Christchurch South seat, ■will address electors .on Monday evening, ill the Beckenham "Hall. An address will be given at Weedon's on Monday evening by Mr Bertram Bun n, Reform candidate for the Riccarton seat.

Mr George Shcat, Government candidate in the Selwyn electorate, will address electors in the Lauriston school on Monday evening. Electors of 'Selwyn will be addressed by Mr Joseph Hamlet, Reform candidate, at Chcrtsey on Monday evening. j CHRISTCHURCH SOUTH. A meeting of friends and supporters of Mr H. G. Ell was held in the Somcrfijeld Street Hall last evening, Mr W. ] F. McLean presiding. After Mr Ell had delivered a short address, he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, coupled with' expressions of appreciation pf his services to. the electorate, and -'of. continued confidence in him as member, for Christchurch South.
