SWIMMING.
PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL. - The "Canterbury Centre of the "N'elt< -''■--£ Zealand Amateur Swimming Association will hold a 'Patriotic Swimming ~ Carnival at the Tepid Baths this even- ■ , ing. A large number of swimmers have joined the Expeditionary Force, and followers of the sport in Christchurch wish to hand over a good sum of money to the Mayor's Patriotic Fund to help their comrades, should tliey ever require it. An excellent programme of events has been arranged, including ladies' handicap races, springboard diving, mefh's handr- , cap races, water polo match (married v.- single), old-timers' races, life-sav-ing alarm race by. two teams from the New Brighton Surf Club, and various novelty items.
