C.E.M.S.
At the Diocesan Conference of the C.E.M.S. last evening, the Bishop of Christchureh presiding, it was decided that the executive should make arrangements for holding retreats such as advocated by the Archbishop of York. The executive was urged also to formulate a scheme by which country branches could be visited by accredited members for the purpose of encouragement and instruction. The question of putting the contributions to the stipend of the organising secretary on a proper business footing was unanimously decided on. A resolution was carried, reaffirming the decision to support in every way possible the Bible-in-schools movement. The work among the youth of the church elicited a very spirited discussion, and it was resolved that the Church of England Men's Society should support the movement for a Bible class in each parish. The foiloAving were appointed an executive for the year: —The Bishop (ex officio), Revs. G. AV. Christian, P. B. Haggitt, and J. K. HeAvlaud, and Messrs Andrews, Bannehr, George, Righton, Simpson, Stoning, TTpham, and Adams (secretary).
