"NIPPED IN THE BUD." MAN INJURED BY CHISEL. A daring attempt at burglary was made at a house in St. Albans on Saturday evening, but the would-be thief was foiled by the vigilance of an occupant of the house. ' He succeeded in preventing the thief from entering the house, but in the struggle he sustained a wound in the side from a chisel which the burglar carried, and ostensibly for the purpose , of forcing upon a window. Taken aback by the accident he allowed his assailant to, escape. .The police have the matter in hand.
