A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that the. steamer Canada Cape arrived from Newcastle, at 6 o'clock yesterday morning. Her late arrival was due to a mishap in the engine room. This week's Sydney boat is the Moeraki. She left the New South Wales port for Wellington, direct on Friday at 5 p.m., and is du%at Wellington about noon to-morrow, bringing 141 saloon and 82 steerage passengers. The Moeraki will arrive in Lyttelton on Thursday ttorniug. The Defender left Hokitika yesterday for Ijyttelton, wliere she : is due on Wednesday mext. She is fixed to sail again on Thursday for Wellington and Karamea. The Wairunos arrived at Sydney on Friday morning with a . cargo of timber from Kaipara. After discharge she will 'load at Newcastle for Lyttelton. •. Another vessel of the same line, the Holm-

dale, is due here some time next week from Greymouth -with timber, and will load proi duco for Kaipara. The Maoriland Steamship Company's Lauderdale is expected to be back at Lyttelton about Wednesday or Thursday next to put out her coal, and will sail for Greymouth on Saturday. Captain H. J. Kell is in command of the Huddart-Parker's steamer Wimmera, which arrived at Lyttelton from Melbourne, via Hobart and Wellington, yesterday, and has the following officers associated with him:— Chief, Mr A. Kermatli (late Victoria) ; chief steward, Mr H. Verge. According to telegraphic advice, the Union Company's Maitai left Sydney on Saturday afternoon for Wellington. She is due there on Wednesday, leaving the next day for San Francisco, via Rarotonga and Papeete, and is scheduled to arrive at the American port on. December 2. The .voyage of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion R.M.S. lonic, which arrived at Wellingtonon Friday afternoon from London, via Cape To'wn and Hobart, was an une'ventful one. She" left -the Home port on September 15, and experienced no delays on the run down to Cape tf'own, which was accomplished in fine, clear weather. From there to Hobart fine weather, with variable westerly winds, was experienced, the voyage across from the Tasmani&n port to Wellington also being made under favourable conditions. Captain 0. J.
