EMBEZZLEMENT CHARGES
RECEIVING GOVERNMENT MONIES Andrew Gostello (Mr J. A. Cassidy) appeared at the Magistrate's Court, on remand, this morning, before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., and was charged (1) with the theft on or about April 4, 1914, at Christchureh, of £54 4/9, which he received from D. Inch on terms requiring him to account for or pay the same to Geo. W. Palmer, Receiver of Land Revenue at Christchureh, and did fraudulently omit to do so; (2). on or about May' 1, 1914, at Christchureh, he received £354 3/4 from Linton C. Gardiner, on the same terms; (3) with the theft of £526 which he received on or about April 1, 1914, from John Frazer; (4) that between November 1, 1913, and May 1, 1914, he received £245 19/4 from Chas. Edward Ross on the same terms; (5) that on or about May 1 he received £366 17/9 from David Archibald; and (6) on or about September 1, 1914, he received £375 14/7 from Agnes A. McLeod. Chief-Detective Bishop asked for a remand until Friday next, when he w T ould possibly be able to go on with the eases. Accused was admitted to bail as formerly.
