(From Our Special Correspondents.) BANKS PENINSULA. On Saturday last Messrs W. D. WiTkins and Son, in conjunction with the National. Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., offered on behalf of- the trustees of the late Francois Narbey, about 22 acres in the Borough of Akaroa, divided into six lots. The following, is, the result of the sale:—Lot 1, 17 3-10 perches, fronting John Street, A. Narbey, £200; Jot 2, 25 1-0 perehes f adjoining above, Mr A. Narbey, £250; lot 13, 6 acres 2 roods 21 2-10 perches, with, a frontage to Chureh Street, passed at £235 per acre; lot 4, 2 roods 18 perches, fronting Walnut Avenue, passed at £200; lots- 4 and 5, 6 acres 2 roods 12 7-10 perches, were then offered together, and were knocked down to .'■ Mr R. Narbey, at £IOO per acre; lot 6, 9 acres 1 rood 27 4-10 perches, fronting Walnut Avenue, ; was passed at £BO per acre. w _ MALVERN. A meeting of the Central Committeje of the Malvern Parochial District was heM at Sheffield on Saturday afternoon. Springfield was represented by Messrs Seymour and Carter; Kowai Bush by Mr Atkinson; Sheffield by Messrs Cullen and Pole; and Dairfield' by Messrs H. A. Knight and W.i Wilsteed, It was decided to call tenders for painting the vicarage, or for painting and general renovation. The matter will be finally settled on October 17. AMBERLEY. Mr G. N. McLean presided over a meeting of the Amberley Breeders? Association yesterday, when .there were present:—J. Watson, E..Stackhouse > G. Busch, T. Boyd,, P. Stanton, W. Kelsall, J. Muni'oe, T. Ratallick, A. MeLean, J. Maxwell, W. Hale, E. JV Parsons, G. L.. Stead, and F. Lewton, Mr J. Robertson wrote resigning from the association,, owing to leaving the district. The chairman eulogised- his services, and the resignation was accepted with regret. Permission was received from the Kowai Domain Board to charge for admission* to the domain on the occasion of the forthcoming show. Special prizes of £1 10/- and £1 1/were received with'thanks from Mr N. Cook and Dr Perry respectively, and

their allotment was left in the hands of the president and secretary. Tenders for the. privilege of the publican 's bootK were ordered to be called. The secretary was instructed to arrange for a deputation to interview the traffic manager in the matter of running an early stock train on the day of the show. Mr W. Macfarlane?; of Loch Leven, was elected a member. A meeting of the Amberley Breeders' Association was held at Amberley yesterday, Mr N. McLean presiding over a large attendance of members. The resignation of Mr J. Robertson, .who is leaving the district, was received with regret. Mr W. ' : „ - A committee was appointed to ; wait upon the Traffic Manager of the ;Eailways, with a view to getting the:time of the first train altered, to allow those sending stock .for exhibition to arrive before 10 o 'clock. \ WAIAU. j >;.; A second public meeting to consider the question of the building of , saleyards in Waiau was held in the Coronation Hall on Saturday, Octobejr 3. Three proposed sites had been--before the committee: (l) The hotel paddock, (2) an area of" 3J acres bounded by the school ground, blacksmith's shop, and the river Mason, for sale by the Commissioner of Crown Lands at £2O an acre; and (3) an area of five acres free and another five at £lO per acre .near the proposed Waiau railway station and on Mr W. Bank's property. The committee strongly recommended the lastnamed site as the most suitable as regards both situation, and terms. On the motion of Mr S. Baker' it was decided that No. 3 site was the best. It was decided that as it would be premature, at present to form a company that Mr Banks be asked 4o hold open for some time further the offer of the second five acres. 1 It was also agreedthat if the Farmers' Union would father the scheme till it took definite shape the preliminary expenses would be refunded to it. With the advent of fine spring weather- of the country are beginning to tempt- afield the longdistance ihotorist and the "Waiau route between Christchurch and Kaikoura is attracting many motorists. A party of five who came through from Kaikoura last week report the roads in excellent order, the, rivers .being exceptionally low' and the shingle firm.
