SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
The Scottish Society's usual monthly Ceilidh was held last evening, when there was a crowded attendance, Chief Chas. Brown presiding. Proceedings commenced with the piper, Ronald Fraser, playing the chief and councillors in to their seats in the hall. An excellent programme was provided. Mr W. Aitchison sang "Sound the Pibroch" and was encored. Miss Agnes Macdonald and Mr E. A. Akins sang a duet, "O, Wert Thou in the Cauld Blast," which also was encored. Miss Irene Duncan, a young vocalist, sang "Caller Herrin'," and gave as an | encore '' Good Old New Zealand." Mr Galloway contributed a mandolin solo, u Scottish Airs," and was encored. Mr E. A. Akins sang "Annie Laurie" and "There's a Land." Mr Frank Macdonald gave a patriotic recitation and an exceeding bright and lively encore. Miss D. Ford danced the Highland Fling, Miss D. Howarth the Seann pTruibhais, and Miss Mcintosh the Sword Dance. Highland Reels and the Flowers of Edinburgh, by the society's juveniles, brought the concert part to a happy conclusion, after which nearly all present joined in a dance, finishing up close on 11 p.m. Miss Bessie Macdonald was the „ accompanist. Altogether it was a most enjoyable and pleasant evening.
