OBITUARY.

ME B. VINCENT. AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS. Genuine regret was manifested in the city, this morning when it became known that Mr Reginald Vincent, solicitor, had passed away. Mr .Vincent had been confined to his room for only a few days, and his friends did not anticipate that his indisposition would be anything but temporary. It was therefore a shock to his numerous friends to learn that his death occurred early this morning. The late Mr Vincent, who was affectionately known as "Sammy" by his friends, was 38 years of age. He was the son of the late Mr W. Vincent, brewer, and since his father's death he had lived with his mother and sisters at 41 Hereford Street. He was an old Christ's College boy. After leaving the College he was articled to the legal firm of Messrs Stringer and Cresswell. After some years spent as judge's associate, he purchased the practice of Messrs Caygill and Widdowson, when Mr Widdowson was appointed 'stipendiary Magistrate for Dunedin. He has been in practice for some years past. Mr Vincent was prominently identified with numerous sports institutions, but of all games cricket "got the most of his attention. _He represented the Poverty Bay Association oh the "New Zealand Cricket Council. for many years. He was formerly a member of tlio United Club, but when the district scheme came into force, and the club disbanded, he joined forces with the St. Albans Club, and later with the West Christchurch Club. He was an enthusiast for the game, and his amiable personal qualities made him a universal favourite. Mr Vincent was a member of the committee which so successfully ar-. ranged and carried out the farewell to the Canterbury Contingent. Apart from his services on that committee, he privately did a great deal to assist friends in the camp. His services were given gratuitously in drawing up the wills of departing officers and troopers, and were availed of to a considerable extent. Mr Vincent was connected with many organisations, and was a member of the Civic Lodge of Freemasons.
