A combined meeting of the members of the Kaiapoi Cycling Club and the Natives of Tushiwi was held in ,the Cycling Club's rooms last night, when Mr H. C'. Be veil presided. r The business was" to draw ]ip a programme of events for the patriotic demonstration to be held at Kaiapoi on Labour Day, October 26, and the following were decided on:—Bulloc& and yigroasting in Maori fashion; Maori haka and poi dancing; half-mile, one mile, and two miles cycling events; 880 yds and one mile flat handicap; pillow fight; stepping competition; sheet* weight-guessing competition; slieafcpitching competition; competitions for prizes to? the best-decorated bicycle, motor cycle, motor cycle and side car, motor or, children's pram, and Jhe most original turn-out in the procession; and a tug-of-war (10-wiinute pull, with eights men |i-side) open to all clubs and societies. ;

Special competitions are - also being arranged for in connection with gol£> cricket, football, and ladies' hockey. Arrangements are also being made for a special train to run from Christ church. The arranging of side shows was left in the hands of the chairman and the secretary, and it was stated that special prizes are being offered for the btst Maori costume. '
