AVON ROWING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Avon Rowing Club was held last evening, there being a good attendance of members, presided over by Mr H. H. Berry, president. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet,/the chairman stated the past season had been a most successful one, the D.C.L. Cup having been won (for the first time) and also the Sliand Cup. The membership of the club was about the same as last season, there being 42 senior active, 84 junior active, 16 nonactive, and five honorary members.
FINANCE. The balance sheet showed the finance of the club to be in a very prosperous condition, the total receipts for the year being £355 14/11, and the expenditure £338 16/3, leaving a credit balance of £l6 18/8.
Out of 48 starts, the club had gained 25 firsts, 12 seconds, 5 thirds, and was unplaced six times, thus winning £137 15/6 in prize-money, this being the largest sum won in that way 'during the history of the club. On the motion of Mr ,A. R. Wood, seconded by Mr A. W. Whitfield, Mr J. Hanan was* unanimously elected a life member of the club.
The election of officers for tlie ensuing year resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr C. Allard (re-elected); president, Mr 11. J-I. Berry (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs W. A. Poison, E. Sinclair, G. W". Russell, M.P., J. Maxwell, J), Sheffield, A. T. Evans, E. E. Nightingale, J. Mac Donald, F. 1?. Sortell, and A. F. Drayton; captain, Mr H. Ta'tling; vicecaptain, Mr A. Fischer; hon. secretary, Mr A. W. Whitfield; hon. treasurer, Mr R. J. Gates; General Committee, Messrs A. R. Wood, A. W. Ellis, R. Broadbelt, J. B. Wilson, E. Nightingale, D. Dunns, and 11. Adkins; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mr R. J. Gates; delegates to N.Z.A.R.A., Messrs 11. Tatling and R. E. Nightingale; delegates to Christehurch Regatta Club, Messrs R. E. Nightingale, A. T. Evans, and R. J. Gates; hon. auditors, Messrs W. A. Poison and W. Sherris.
