SWIMMING.

NORTH CANTERBURY CLUB. The annual meeting of the North Canterbury Amateur Swimming Club was held at Rangiora last evening, Mr H. C. D. Van Aseh presiding over a good attendance of members. The report stated that the membership was not so large as in the first year, there being 95 male members and 14 ladies. The club competitions had not been as snccessful as they might have been, and it was hoped that competition would be keener during the coming season. The annual carnival \ad been a great success, both as regarded entries and the attendance. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £5 15/-. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Pour new members were elected.

The following officers were elected:— Patrons, Hon. D. Buddo, the Mayor (Mr C I. Jennings), Mr R. Jordan; president, Dr T. A. Will; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Dix, H. C. D. Van Asch, and B. Eclwards; captain, Mr R. Hamilton; deputy-captain, Mr H. Truscott; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. L. Paterson; auditor, Mr C. I. Jennings; Management Committee, Messrs T. Hills, G. M. Green, W. S. Shilton, W. G. Rowe, and .1. Kinley; delegates to centre, Messrs R. Hamilton and E. Nordon. Messrs B. Jordan, E. Hills, and R. Mallasch, members of the Expeditionary Force, were made honorary members of the club. It was decided that the club' be incorporated. Votes of thanks were accorded the donors of trophies and the retiring officers, the secretary being voted £4 4/-, half of which he handed back to the prize funds. Four members were appointed as lion, instructors. Messrs H. Van Asch and H. Dix each offered £2 2/- to the prize fund.
