HOCKEY.
ENGLISH LADIES' TOUR. SOUTH CANTERBURY DEFEATED. _ ,At Timaru yesterday tlie English ladies' hockey team defeated South Canterbury by 8 goals to 1. The homte players were much younger and lighter. The ground was greasy, light rain falling just before the start. The English team return to Christchurch by the first express to-day. CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association was held last evening. The Canterbury representative team returned from the southern tour last evening. Mr Velvin, the manager, reported that the trip had been a most successful one. The executive presented the certificates and cups to the winning teams for the season 1914, which were distributed as follow: — Addington, first grade; Sydenham A, second grade; Selwyn, third and fourth grades; Technical fifth -grade. Tlie last-named team was also preseuted with certificate as winners of the fifth grade competition for 1913. As the fifth grade competition had not been supplied with a cup, Mr Batley generously offered to supply one for this competition.
