LIGHT AND POWER.
LAKE COLERIDGE SCHEME. TRANSMISSION LINE COMPLETED. Wars and rumours of wars have not interfered with the progress of the Lake Coleridge hydro-electric scheme. - An important event took place yes- > terday, when the last joint in the over- ; head transmission line from the works at the Lake to the Addington sub-sta-tion was made. The transmission line is 1 now ready for testing. The township at the Lake is now" lit by electricity. The tunnel and pipe lines are filled, ; and as soon as water gets on to the main turbines a series of important tests will be made. Orders for power are so numerous that extensions will have to be made immediately. This was foreseen in the original scheme, and has been provided for accordingly. The official date fixed for the formal opening was October 1, and it seems that, eveiy thing will be ready for it as far as the supply-is concerned.
