PERSONAL.
Captain Beaumont left for Wellington last evening. Mr Justice Denniston leaves for Napier to-morrow evening. Mr B. F. Smith, of Washington, 8.C., arrived in town this morning, and is staying at Warner's Hotel. Mr D. L. Patterson (Oamaru) and Mr G. Bernstein, who arrived this morning, are amongst the guests staying at the United Service Hotel. The Hon. James Allen arrived from Wellington this morning, and left by the first express for Dunedin. On Monday morning he expects to pay a visit to the camp. Visitors to Christchurch at present staying at the United Service Hotel include Messrs A. R. Bushell (Fairlie), A. E. Lambert (Pleasant Point), S. E. Rutherford (Cass), J. E. Ramsay (Auckland), B. Folm (Sydney), and W. Aspery (Sydney). Mr and Mrs C J.'King, of Najpier, who went to Europe via Yladivostock, have been detained in Berlin, and are dependent on German charity. They are given the poorest rations. Mrs King is suffering from appendicitis. The Hon. T. Mackenzie is endeavouring to send money to them.
