THE SUCCESS OF THE SILENT 7 h.p. MATCHLESS. Results of the Auto Cycle Union of Great Britain and Ireland six days' trial are now to hand. The test was one of great severity, the machines being called upon -to traverse such shockingly bad and surfaceless byroads ami such appalling gradients that there was serious talk amongst" the competitors of calling a "strike" arid abandoning the trial a3 being more than man and machine could endure. However the more determined riders and best machines saw it through, among them the Matchless team which was the only sidecar team to finish complete, winning the side car team prize without opposition. On one 'awful hill the solitary machine to get to the top was a Matchless side car driven by Mr R. E. Guest, an amateur who threaded his way through a hundred "failures." This trial has again demonstrated the wonderful power and strength of the Matchless "models de ltrxe" side car machine, and intending purchasers should see this model and test its capabilities.
