EVIDENCE AGAINST EVE.
. The following comes from America—of . course:— - The authorities of the University of Pennsylvania announce that they have discovered in the university museum the missing half of the tablet of Nippur describing the Fall of Man and the Flood. Some weeks ago the translation of the first half of the tablet by Dr Langdon, the reader in Assyriology at Oxford, was announced. It confirmed in sur'pris.jhg detail" the Biblical account of the .Fa,ll and Flood, but was incomplete. A search was at once made, and a copy of the inscription on the second half hits -been sent ttf Di- Laiiigdon for translation: ■ ' The' tablet is "a pre-Semitic account of these occurrences, and comes from the early library of Nippur which was destroyed during an invasion ; of Babylonia by the Elamites in the time of Abraham.
Adam's eating of the fruit is described in the part already translated by Dr Langdon. It is hoped that Eve's part in the Fall will be told in the newly discovered fragment.
