Donations may be forwarded to his Worship the Mayor of Christcliurch, the Town Clerk, or the secretary (Mr R. T. Tosswill, Eoyal Exchange Buildings), and will be acknowledged through these columns.

Tlie Licensed Victuallers' Association have forwarded to the Mayor's Patriotic Fuml the sum of £537 19/- made up as follows:

Through a misprint yesterday the sum contributed to the Patriotic Fund by the employees-of Messrs Ballantyne and Co. was wrongly stated. It should, have been, £172. ; The firm of Geo. M'Clatch.ie and Co. contributed £25. COMMITTEE MEETING.; . . A meeting of the executive of the Patriotic Fund was held this morning, the Mayor presiding. On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Mi- Cyrus Williams,- the following resolution was passed:-—"The executive of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund urges the Government to amend the War Contributions Validation Act, 1914, as soon as possible, so as to validate contributions made to any patriotic or equipment funds which may have been or may be established.'' The Mayor reported that the fund was augmented yesterday to the extent of £1505, and the amount already banked, exclusive of that received yesterday, amounted to £7450 8/2. The matter of insurance was touched on when the secretary reported that he had approached the New Zealand and the South British Insurauee Companies with, a view to drawing up some scheme. They had since'replied that they could do nothing in the matter. The A.M.P. A. letter was received from a resident suggesting that vacant sections in Christ-church should be turned to account by the-planting of food crops in them, and stating-that he was the owner of a vacant section for which lie was prepared to supply the necessary seed and do some of the cultivating. The matter was referred to the Labour Committee.

Another resident wrote suggesting that ii bazaar should be held to augment the funds. He Avould be prepared to supply £5 or £lO worth of goods.
