PERSONAL.
Major-General Sir Alexander and Lady God ley arrived from Wellington this morning. The Hon. T. M'Gibbon came south by this morning's ferry steamer from Wellington. Mr H. H. Hayhurst, son of the late Colonel Hayhurst, who was Mayor of Temuka, has consented to fill the mayoralty of Temuka for the remainder of his father's term of office.
Mr A. H. Cockayne, Government Biologist, is in Christchurch, together with Dr Bailie and Dr Conklin, two American scientists who came to Australasia to attend the sittings of the British Association. Dr Ramson and Dr Wheeler, two other members of the party, will arrive to-morrow,- and the party will then visit Arthur's Pass and other places in Canterbury.
