THE COMMITTEE APPOINTED TO COLLECT FUNDS IN THIS PROVINCE HAVE NO MISGIVINGS AS TO THE RESPONSE WHICH WILL BE MADE TO THE CALL, BELIEVING THAT, TRUE TO ITS TRADITIONS, Canterbury will meet its obligations generously and unflinchingly OBJECTS:— TO ESTABLISH A PATRIOTIC FUND TO BE USED IN ASSISTING THE DEPENDENTS OF MEN WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO FIGHT THE ENEMY OF THE BRITISH FLAG These brave men should not leave our shores having any misgivings as to what may happen to their loved ones should Sickness or, Death be the price paid for their Loyalty; and should they return physically unfit it is our duty to assist them until again restored to health. TO APPLY THE FUNDS IN ANY MANNER THAT MAY BE DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE COMMITTEE TO ALLEVIATE SUFFERING AND/DISTRESS CAUSED BY THIS STUPENDOUS CRISIS. NOTE.— NONE OP THE MONEY RAISED will be expended in the Equipment of Troops. This can be best arranged by the Government, the cost being provided out of Consolidated Revenue. DONATIONS may h 6 forwarded to any Member of the Committee, The Town Clerk, The Secretary (Mr R. T. Tosswill, Royal Exchange Buildings), or to Myself, H. HOLLAND, Mayor, x City of Christchurch. ,
