JUEEASURES IN N.S.W. ASSEMBLY. ' ; MORE HANDSOME DONATIONS. , (Received August 20, 9,55 a.m.) * SYDNEY, August 26. The Assembly lias passed a Bill providing for the amalgamation of the various patriotic funds, and a bill giving the Government power to pro el aim a moratorium; also a measure to deal with withdrawals from savings banks if the need should arise. The Assembly also carried a bill providing against the inflation in the prices of necessary commodities, through a committee. Regarding rite moratorium and savings banks, Mr Hoi man explained that he hoped legislation would not be required, but it would be better to be prepared for possible contingencies. Arrangements are being made to keep the Broken Hill mines going on shortened time, in order to relieve distress. ADELAIDE, August 20. The Assembly has adopted bills proclaiming a limited moratorium covering v mortgages and the purchases of land, and providing for the collection of information and foodstuffs supplies. {Received August 20, 10.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 20. Great enthusiastic crowds watched the inarch of Victoria's Contingent of the Expeditionary Force through the etreets. The Government is adopting a modification of censorship in regard to general telegrams, but there is no relaxation < of" the censorship of those conveying information of the movements of shipping, or of military naval news. Arrangements have been made for the discharging of cargoes of the detained German vessels. Sir George Reid's war bulletin says: *'The papers are full of news of encounters between the Belgian and German armies. These are taken from Belgian and French newspapers, and all the successes are greatly magnified. It is believed that the British troops will '- arrive in time to - participate in the great engagements. It is hoped that the French will attack the left wing of the Germans in South Alsace, as this .-will necessitate the withdrawal of large ■masses of troops from the German right -wing, and so cripple the encircling movement which the Germans are obviously making against the Allies' left."
