OUR CONTINGENTS.

To tae Editor 01 t±ub sujn. Sir, —I am informed that the ladies of Christehurch have been very busy preparing sundry articles for the use of the men of the various contingents, and 1 was rather surprised that the members of the A.S. Corps who left for the north on Tuesday had not been supplied. From enquiries made up to late on Tuesday afternoon, the only articles issued to them were boots, blankets, and kit-bag; .-anything else the men required had to be provided by themselves. It is a pity tliat the work done by these ladies should be unused, and the articles made probably stowed away in some corner of the barracks until the next great war. I would suggest that two or three ladi«6 be appointed who would personally see that each company was properly equipped. It is not the least good to simply hand them in, and trust to the officials to see them properly distributed. I would also suggest that a full kit be sent forward to those members of the A.S.C. who have gone north. Do the Government only supply one suit of uniform 1 ? If so, what condition will it be in after two months' wear on board ship, etc., and what a fine appearance our men would make upon arrival in England.—l am, etc., A PARENT.
