The Union Company advises that the Kamona will not now come to Lyttelton from Greymijuth, but will discharge her cargo at Wellington. The Maitai left Dunedin last evening for Lyttelton. She will be docked on arrival, and sail late to-morrow for Wellington. Captain R. Fletcher, of the Kahii has come ashore on holiday leave, and Captain J. E. Grey has taken charge of the vessel. Captain H. Whyborn, who has been on sick leave, has joined the Rakanoa, and-Captain J. Morrison, who *ias been on the Rakanoa in the meantime, has gone to Auckland to stand by the Navua.

Yesterday morning the Tahiti, from San Prancisco, via .Papeete and Rarotonga, arrived at Wellington. She brough a cargo of dried fruits, canned goods, oil, copra, and IfiOO tons of fruit. The Tahiti will not proceed to Sydney, but will remain at Wellington indefinitely. Her through passengers will be taken by the Manuka. This morning the Huddart-Parker Company's Ulimaroa arrived at Lyttelton from Sydney, via Wellington. Included in her cargo are transhipments ex the steamers Katooinba, Eastern, Sydney, and Fazilka, the following being the principal lines:—l6o bags flour, 37 packages tea, 26 cases wine, 20 hogsheads spirits, 4 cases infant food, 7 «ases .cigars, GOO bags rice, 46 cases paste, 9 barrels craim of tartar, 5 cases condiments, 25 cases desiccated cocoamit, 50 cases beer, 10 cases potash, 3 cases candles, 41 ingots copper, and a large quantity of sundries, The Ulimaroa sails this evening for Melbourne, via southern ports and Hobnrt, being due at Melbourne on August 22.

A departure from Lyttelton for Wellington last evening was the Union Company's big collier Waitemata, which had been laid up at the port ■ for a considerable period owing to strike troubles in the coal mines at Newcastle. Kettle; third, Mr S. Davis; chief steward, Mr L. Anderson. ATHENIC AT WELLINGTON. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Athenic arrived in the stream at Wellington from London, via ports, at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, and berthed at the King's wharf A couple of hours later. The Athenic ex-

perienced moderate to fine weather to Tencriffe, where 500 tons of coal were bunkered. At Cape Town another 700 tons of coal were taken in. High seas and occasional gales were experienced on the run down to Hobart, which was reached at 11 p.m. on Wednesday last. After discharging 650 tons of cargo, and landing 23 passengers, the vessel resumed her voyage at 8.30 a.m. on Friday, and experienced moderate seas till arrival.

The Athenic brought 333 passengers, 6G5 packages of mails, and 5600 tons of cargo for Wellington, states the 'Tost." It is probable that all the cargo will be discharged here, and the vessel will be worked day and night until discharge is completed. Ciptain J. E.
