NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD.

The "British-Australasian" of July 9 contains the following items of interest to New Zealanders:— Lady Vogel has left London to spend some time at the Grand Hotel D'Aigle, Aigle, Switzerland. Mrs and Miss Mildred Shain, of Nelson, leave in a few days' time for Lourdes, after which they will visit other parts of France, Switzerland, and Italy. They later return to London to complete their tour of the British Isles. Bandmaster Joseph Taylor, of Christchurch, one of the Salvation Army delegates, has recently visited Scotland, Lancashire, and Gloucestershire, and shortly leaves for the Continent, en route for home.

Mrs Hastings Bridge, of Christehurch, who was here two years ago with her husband, has recently arrived again on a visit to her daughter, who is a student at London University, after having spent some time in Gottingen studying music and German. Mr and Mrs J. J. Graham, of Auckland, have spent two months travelling about the United Kingdom and Ireland. They left on Saturday for Sweden, whence they will go to Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Holland. After visiting Ireland again, they return by the Medic on September 17.

Mr David Latimer, of Auckland, has returned to London after a lengthy tour of the Continent, and purposes spending the remainder of the' year in Scotland and the north of Ireland. He intends going to the San Francisco Exhibition in March next, and returns to New Zea : land via the Panama Canal at the end of next year. Mr J. M. Mitchell is accompanied by the Misses Ethel and Vera Mitchell, who are studying at the Royal Academy of Music. They will remain here for three years, but Mr Mitchell, after travelling through England, Scotland, and Ireland, will spend two months on the Continent, and return to Christehurch at the end of the year. Mr and Mrs F. W. Haybittle, of Wellington, left on Monday to visit relatives in Somerset, and will afterwards tour England, returning to New Zealand at the end of the year. They had actually booked their passages from Canada in the Empress of Ireland, but were prevented from leaving by her only two days before she sailed. Mr James Young, F.8.H.5., Curator of the Botanic. Gardens, Christehurch, since his arrival in England in May, has been visiting the principal botanic gardens and public parks in England, Scotland, and Ireland. - He intends to go over some of the best private gardens and nurseries, and is especially interested in rock gardens. Mr M. C. Ormandy, of Christehurch,

is on a combined business and pleasure trip. He has visited Paris, the Isle of Wight, and various places on the _South Coast, and has just returned from paying visits to friends in Scotland and Ireland. leaves for the United States in a fortnighfc/s time, and joins the Niagara at Vancouver. Mr and Mrs W. T. Williams, of Te Aute, have come to see their son,, who is at Caius College, Cambridge, and are accompanied by their two daughters, the Misses Dorothy and Esther Williams. They havei purchased a Minerva car, and on Saturday set out on a motor trip through .the South of England, Ireland, and possibly Scotland. They return to England by the Morea on Octo-ber-30.
