METROPOLITAN TROTS.
AUGUST MEETING. The weather was delightfully fine for the opening day of the Metropolitan Trotting Club's Meeting, and there was a big attendance. The track was in splendid order, and the fields were of more than average proportion. Results:— INTRODUCTORY HANDICAP (harness), of 150 sovs. One mile and a-half. 1 Mr It. Thomas) 3 Also started: 7 Hal Zolock scr, 11 Elmo Jun. x 3sec, 12 Sweet Agnes 3, 10 Grey Owl 3, 4 Alice Huoti 4, 3 Muriel Dillon 4, 4 Dalwhiiinie 4, 15 Rose Dillon 5, 8 Rotorua 5, 16 Cupid's "Whispers 6, 12 Ottawa 6, 18 Royal Belle 7, 19 Moneybox 7, 9 Queen Tracey 7, 5 True Spec 7, 11 Resurrection 5, 20 General Mite 9, 3 Miss Peggie 9. NOTES ON THE EACING. Two well-fancied candidates in Antonio and Lily F. had the result of the Introductory Handicap to themselves: A fine burst of speed in the first quarter enabled Antonio to get the rail, and he just headed Lily F. all through. Succeed put in a fine run in the last half-mile, and cut Royal Belle out of third place, with Resurrection close up.
The time, 3.37, constitutes a record for a maiden race at Addington.
