ALLEGED MISAPPROPRIATION.
CASE AGAINST F. B. TURNER.
Frank Bowring Turner was brought before Messrs R. O. Duncan and H. Quane, J.P. 's, charged with misappropriating the sum of £77 18/1 held in trust for Mrs A. J. Burgess, having received that amount from Peter Lloyd Davies on terms requiring him to account for it to Mrs Burgess. Chief-Detective Bishop. prosecuted, and Mr R. Lethaia appeared for the accused. The accused was remanded to the Supreme Court, bail being granted as previously—two sureties of £2OO each and self £2OO. On the case being sent to the Supreme Court, the promise to pay the amount was withdrawn, and Mr Hunt thereupon made a sworn statement to the Bench as follows: —"I have stated that the. money has been paid, by that I mean that the solicitors appearing for the accused's relatives have undertaken to pay the amount. Such undertaking has now been witßdrawn."
