The funeral of the late Miss Emily Hassuil, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. D. Hassall, took place yesterday afternoon. Miss Hassall was an amiable aud very much esteemed young lady, whose untimely death was sincerely deplored by a very large circle of friends. For some time she was on the staff of Gilby's Commercial College, but for the past six years she was a member of the Public Trust Office staff. The funeral went from her parents' residence to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, where a ~ service was conducted by the Revs. J. Paterson aud 11. E. Bellhouse. The interment was at the Linwood Cemetery, members of the Public Trust staff acting as pallbearers. Wreaths were forwarded by the Head Office of the Public Trust, Wellington, the Christchurch Office, Mr and Mrs Checkley, Mr L. Martin, Mr and Mrs R. Belcher, Mr and Mrs Mawson, Mr and Mrs J. Willis, Mr aud Mrs R. Meredith, Mr aud Mrs Thos. Hassall, Mr and Mrs Lill, Mr and Mrs G. W. Truman, the Misses Robinson and Lyons, the Misses Gibbons and Holmes, the Misses Moon and Ford, Mr ami Mrs ,'lonlan, Mr aud Mrs T.
