SUMNER NOTES.
The following is the Sumner sunshine record for the month of July: — Maximum sunshine on the 20th and 27th, 9hrs; 8 hours and over on six days, 4th, 16th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 27th; no sunshine on six days, 2nd, 9th, 15th, 38th, 19th, and 24th. Total sunshine recorded, 134 hours 5 minutes. BEAUTIFYING ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the committee of the "Beautifying Association was held on
Monday evening, Dr Line presiding. Mr Pratt notified the committee that ha had a number of trees for planting. Ifc was decided to approach the owners of sheep on Scarborough and see if arrangements could be made to protect young trees. Arrangements were made to plant the ground along Scarborough Road with geraniums, and also to plant the tramway loop. BOROUGH COUNCIL. I The council meeting called for Tuesday evening lapsed for want of a quorum.
