ARBITRATION COURT.
THE ALPINE GUIDES. Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 4. The. Arbitration Court took compensation cases this afternoon. In the cases of the two Alpiuc guides employed by the Tourist Department at Mount Cook, who were killed last year, the Public Trustee, as administrator of their estates, sought compensation from the Crown. The Court awarded £2OO in the ease of David Thompson, and £l3O in the case of John Richmond. These amounts are five times the benefits the dependents were receiving prior to the death of their respective sons. In the remaining case the Court awarded £447 to the Public Trustee, as administrator of the estate of Edwin Egbert White, late clerk in f'-ic Public Works Department, who \ as killed by a train in April while returning to Otaki from his employment on a railway jigger.
