Mr H. T. Little is at present in town. The Hon. Ji Barr, M.L.C., returnea to Wellington last evening.
Mr J. BlanYires, Mayor of Huddersfield, left last night by the Maori for Wellington. The Rev. E. D. Evans, vicar of St. Peter's, Caversham, has accepted a call to Baltimore, U.S.A., and will probably leave New Zealand at the end of this month.
The Hon. R. Hcaton Rhodes, Post-master-General, and Mr G. W. Russell, M.P., left for Wellington by the Maori last night.
At a special meeting of the Loburn School Committee held on Saturday evening Mr F. Warner, of the Lyttelton School was selected for the position of master of the Loburn School. .
Mr J. A. Duncan, licensee of Warner's Hotel, has been appointed secretary of the Hotel Australia, Sydney, and will leave shortly to take up ,his new position. The committee and teachers of the ( Free Kindergarten met at xhe house of the president (Mrs Peppier), at North New Brighton, on Friday evening, to bid farewell to Miss Bull, late headmistress, who is leaving shortly to take up work in Rhodesia. A pleasant evening was spent, in the course of which Mjss Bull was the recipient of some handsome books. At the New Brighton Borough Council last night, the Mayor, Mr C. 11. Winny, proposed a motion of condolence with the relatives of the late /Mr T. W. Edmonds, who died on Saturday night. He said that the loss of such a man to the borough was a great one, and he was sure that it would be keenly felt. . The motion was carried, . the councillors standing.
