FRUIT CULTURE.
Mr>- ! W. J. Courtier, Government Orchard Instructor, informed a SUN representative this morning as to what he had been doing during the past few days, - and outlined his movements for the coming week. Within the last day or two a test (acre had been planted at Mr J. Doak's, Hawarden, and at the same time a demonstration of pruning had been given before a large number of spectators. The test acres at Cheviot and Kaikoura, on Mr J. Cooper's arid Mr E. Parson's property respectively, had also been pruned. Both these orchards were doing exceptionally well.
At Glentunnel to-night Mr Coxlrtier is having a meeting, while another meeting is to be held to-moirow night in the same district. On Tuesday next at Rangiora a test acre is to be planted at Mr C. Bell's, and information on fruit culture will be given at the same time. On Wednesday evening at Rangiora a lecture is to be given under the auspices of the Farmers' Union. On Thursday, at Cust, a demonstration and lecture will be given, while a demonstration of pruning, etc., will be given at Horrellville on Friday.
