ON THE LAND

ADDINGTON MARKET.

THE CONCLUSION. FAT SHEEP. An unusually large yarding of fat sheep came forward yesterday, some ten races being well filled. This was much in excess of butcher's requirements, but graziers were operating largely. In consequence of the double market next week due to a holiday being observed at the yards on August .12, the butchers did not restrict purchases to week's supplies. Again the sheep yarded were mostly wethers, and some splendid mutton was included, as the prices indicate, but there were rather more unfinished wethers than usual, and some of them went at prices below "what similar sheep .brought'in the store pens earlier in the day. In the middle of the sale bidding lacked the briskness that high prices ruling of late has occasioned, but it livened up again, and though some lots were passed at axiction no quotable change in the position of the market can be recorded. Among the highest prices realised ■were the following: —- E. P. Giles (Mt Parnassus), wethers to 35/-. A. W. Rutherford, jun. (Brookdale), • •wethers to 33/-* Parker Bros.
